A Bee-
A small group were initiated into the intricacies of bee keeping and honey production
on Sunday 16th August. TVD member Krissie Streatfield laid on an instructive afternoon
which included some suitably clad, intrepid individuals (see photos) being allowed
to open up some of her hives. Calm and gentle were the watchwords as we delved inside
and, obeying to the letter, no one felt threatened or was stung. The complexity of
the 
organisation and industry of the bee colonies – lazy male drones apart! – involved
in producing honey was a revelation. Krissie, who conducts sessions in local schools
on behalf of the High Wycombe and District Beekeepers Association, proved an excellent
teacher and host. Those present much enjoyed this event which revealed once again
what variety of talent we have among our membership.
