Glastonbury

Sunday morning dawned grey and wet, and an intrepid party braved the elements for an invigorating to walk up the Tor, whose winding path to the summit Sig suggested could be seen as a 3-D labyrinth. Below the Tor we reconvened in the Chalice Well Gardens, source of the Red Spring which is believed to have curative powers. The gardens are a designated Peace Garden and were preserved by Wellesley Tudor Pole, originator of the Minute of Silence during World War II. They are studded with the symbol of the Vesica Pisces - two overlapping circles - which appears in iron work, tree forms and formal structures. We were privileged to be able to view and meditate with the Blue Bowl, a special chalice brought to the gardens by Pole in curious circumstances.

By now, everyone was cold and wet and it was time to head back in to town to warm up! Glastonbury has a wealth of sites to work in, great bookshops to browse, and is very well served by good B&Bs and cafes.  All in all, this was a fascinating weekend, with lots of food for thought. Many thanks are due to Sue Scott Powell for organising it so well.
